Where People Matter

Imagine… waking up to luminous hues of freshness, stretched as far as your eyes can reach.

Imagine… going on a morning run with the happiest ducks waddling by your side, followed by an elaborate breakfast made from farm-fresh organic ingredients. And that too, in an open-air café overlooking, possibly, the cleanest river ever – Andra River. For the evenings you can choose between a hearty ride on a well-trained broody horse or a relaxing spa treatment. There’s all this and more available at Fazlani Nature’s Nest: Resort & Spa. Spread across 68 acres of land, this wellness resort is just 3-hours away from Mumbai. And this was our chosen destination for our year-end holiday.

A well-laid network of serpentine roads took us to the luxuriant land of Mawal Taluka, in Takwe. The resort has three categories of rooms. The highest category is the lake facing suite. The perks of being in the highest category include in-room check-in and a personal butler. Mine was a well-trained senior staff member called Sachin, and he was literally like Genie for my two curious Aladdins.

In-house activities include goat and cow milking, horse riding, feeding horses and ducks, farm & flora tour, pottery, cycling, bonfire, morning and evening yoga. And trust me, we did every single of these activities since the animals were so well-kept. Indeed, this is the first Indian facility where I have seen such clean and healthy animals living in extremely well-kept environs. I’d like to make a special mention of their equestrian which is managed under the supervision of horse-mommy Sheila. A native of South Wales, UK, she moved with her bags to India, almost 25 years back. Her interactions with her in-house Macau Mithu, who was so possessive about her, was therapy in itself.

The other major aspect of this resort is the Ayurvedic Spa. One can choose from their well-curated spa menu. There are rituals from both international & ayurvedic line of practice. All the treatments are prescribed after a consultation with their in-house doctor.

After pampering the body and mind, it’s time for tantalising the taste buds with some fresh organic food. The resort follows the farm-to-fork concept, so all that you eat at their only restaurant – The Hive, is made from the ingredients grown at their own farm. In case, one is keen to learn more about farming, the resort conducts a comprehensive farm tour and special classes too.

I was deeply touched by the people and places, at the Fazlani Resorts. The owners own a hut right at the property. And reportedly, the MD of the group was present during our stay. But, honestly, each and everyone working at the resort seemed like he/she owned the place. And effortlessly they make you feel one of their own. Drop a spoon, even by mistake, and you will have ten people ready to come and hold it for you. And that too with a smile.

My departure was equally special. Replete with a basket of fruits from their farm, and a wave-off till our car left the property gate. It made us feel as if we’re being seen off by our extended family.
